This is one of those created-in-a-dorm-room products that I just want to see succeed. It’s simple, brilliant, and not terribly embarrassing to have in a dorm room. Plus, they got a funny web group to do their commercial (Magic Hugs):Read more and watch the video

The hoopla surrounding the big game is long gone (or slowly fading) but that doesn’t mean that the sports-themed parties will stop. There’s still plenty of basketball action with the upcoming NCAA playoffs next month.
If you’re expecting a lot of people at your next party, you’re bound to face a seating issue. Inevitably someone has to either get a chair from another room or sit on the floor. So, what’s a host to do?
Let me introduce you to the SlouchBack! It’s an inflatable backer that turns your bed or any surface into additional comfortable seating. The website dubs it as “comfortable dorm room furniture,” but you can use the SlouchBack in a playroom (on a day bed) or even your guest room (on a futon). What a great idea! Here are five reasons why I think SlouchBack is cool:
1. It was invented by two young entrepreneurs.
2. You can choose from six different colors: navy, tan, brown, pink, red and blue. Plus, the cover is made out of machine-washable microsuede.
3. It inflates and deflates in record time — about 30 seconds to be exact.
4. The insulated side pockets can hold your drinks, remote control or your cell phone.
5. Once deflated, it’s about the size of a briefcase. This makes for easy storage under your bed or in your closet.
I wanted to learn more about SlouchBack, so I interviewed Andrew Goetting. He’s SlouchBack’s co-founder and CEO. Here’s what he said: Read the interview here

The Slouchback, its founders hope, is no less than a new way to sit. Presumably spurred by aching backs after leaning on cinder blocks in their dorm rooms, some recent college graduates teamed up to produce the Slouchback, a high quality inflatable backer that turns any surface into something resembling a couch. It’s been on sale since August on its website, and is making its way into college bookstores across the country.
I took the Slouchback for a test drive to see whether it stood up to, well, sitting down. (I tried as best I could to simulate a college student’s grueling lifestyle. Yes, I even bellyflopped onto it.)
A built-in pump inflates the Slouchback quickly and quietly; deflation is just as simple. (When deflated, the 8-pound Slouchback fits into a bag about the size of a grocery bag that comes with it.) Even better, unlike my air mattress, the Slouchback won’t slowly lose air.
The machine-washable microsuede cover is comfortably soft, but not so thick that you forget you’re leaning on something inflatable. When I met with Slouchback’s founder and CEO, Andrew Goetting, he acknowledged that inflatable furniture won’t ever be featured in Elle Decor, but said he hoped to counter people’s negative perceptions by using quality materials to create “the Mercedes of inflatable furniture.” Besides, he said, it’s sitting on air that sucks, not reclining on it. By putting the Slouchback on a dorm bed or day bed, people get the benefits of pop-up furniture without the downsides. And you know what? He’s right. The Slouchback does what it says; it’s just a matter or whether you ever encounter cinder blocks.
The Slouchback has a 100% satisfaction guarantee, and I found that the product held up to all its claims—even the one about inflating and deflating in 30 seconds. It comes in navy, tan, brown, and garish pink, red and blue and, in case you forgot that it was originally marketed solely to college students, it has two build-in can holders. The Slouchback is available here for $99.99 with free shipping.
As pads go, a dorm room is no luxury suite. But for young adults living away from home for the first time, it’s the ultimate place for hanging out, studying, partying and occasionally sleeping. Too bad the bed takes up so much precious square-footage when what dorm dwellers really want is space for entertaining friends. Well, in just 30 seconds they can have it, thanks to the inflatable SlouchBack.
Longtime friends Jeff Seibert and Andrew Goetting thought up the idea for the SlouchBack when they were in school, then came together after college to make it a reality.
Their invention is a portable microsuede couch that inflates automatically in less than 30 seconds, bringing instant comfort and convenience to the dorm room or extra seating to the family room. It’s so much more comfortable than a flimsy folding chair and loads more functional than pillows stacked haphazardly against concrete walls. When deflated, the SlouchBack is easy to tuck away. And, slouchers don’t need to worry about spilling their popcorn or soda — the microsuede covers (available in a handful of cool colors) are easily removable and washable. Just chill out, slouch back and enjoy.

I have a painful admission to make: I’m a Floor Sitter. No idea how it started, but for as long as I can remember, I prefer watching TV from the floor. Even though I have a full-sized, incredibly comfortable, fully-functioning leather couch. Strange, I know. Even more so, considering I have to pile throw pillows under me to make it tolerable.
But my floor just became a TV-watching comfort zone. Check out the Slouchback.
Originally designed by two college students to turn their dorm room beds into a comfy couch for studying, gaming, TV-viewing, and college chick getting (“No, I am not trying to get you into bed… this is just a couch…”), the Slouchback is being used by people everywhere to turn just about anything into seating for up to three adults.
